Business Development Manager
Job Description:
WAVE Drowning Detection Systems, the #1 digital aquatics life safety provider in the US , is looking for an energetic sales person to open new accounts with aquatics clients. We are changing the aquatic safety landscape with advanced technology that is long overdue and keeps swimmers safe.
WAVE Systems BDM’s manage the client experience from initial contact though delivery of the system. You will have direct influence on commercialization of products, profitability and sales processes. RSM’s execute lead generation programs and contract with clients directly. You will be responsible for a monthly sales objection and paid lucrative commissions with accelerators for exceeding goals. WAVE BDM’s represent the WAVE brand image “cool, trusted, swimmer safety”.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
The Business Development Manager is a quota-carrying, new business development role responsible for selling the WAVE GUARDian Subscription platform — WSP and GUARDian Complete — into aquatic facilities that are not current customers, including YMCAs, municipal recreation departments, parks districts, camps, schools, and hospitality operators. The role owns the full sales cycle for new customers — prospecting, qualification, demonstration, proposal, negotiation within published pricing, and contract execution — across the entire customer base with no territory or geographic restriction.
Once a contract is signed, account ownership transfers to the Client Success Manager (CSM) team via a documented handoff. The Business Development Manager does not retain post-sale account responsibility, does not perform system deployment or staff training, and does not carry quota for renewals or expansion within existing accounts — those functions belong to Client Success and Operations respectively.
Lead Generation Activities:
• Outbound : calling/prospecting: marketing campaigns, targeted contact list sales campaigns
• Inbound : Manage incoming customer leads to campaigns
• Qualify leads, set appointments, schedule and perform product demonstrations
• Manage lists of prospects and contacts
• HubSpot CRM pipeline management
• Drive conference and/or trade show prospect lead generation
• Perform market and customer competitive research to support RFP identification
• Advance leads through a curated sales process in Hubspot CRM
• Seek referrals and upgrades from installed customers
Education and Experience Qualifications
• Experience in technology sales
• Minimum of 2 years of sales experience
• Strong communication and presentation skills
Preferred
• Aquatics industry/pool management knowledge
• Experience in competitive water sports and/or lifeguarding
• Knowledge of local aquatics community
• Experience working remote in sales position in startups or similar situations.
• New product category experience – sold products that defined a whole new product category.
• HubSpot certifications and/or sale pipeline experience in same
